Fine Painting
Until I was eight, I lived on a sort of hobby ranch in Hockley, TX, where we kept horses, German Shepherds, cattle, and lots of cats. I was an only child and spent a lot of time in the woods putting my power of imagination to good use. And like a lot of kids, I drew - mermaids, monsters, anything. After my parents divorced, my mom and step-father eventually settled on 10 acres in Magnolia, TX (about an hour NW of Houston). I went through an extensive and painful period of unpopularity and awkwardness called Junior High, but eventually found a place at the intersection of honors classers, band nerds, and artsy pot smokers. And thus it was until I graduated in 2002 and started college at Texas State University in San Marcos.
This is when I moved in with my now-husband Nick Haasch, who has been my loving and supportive partner through thick and thin. I started out as an Art Education major, but switched to Painting my second-to-last semester. I learned a great deal during my time at Texas State. I have nothing but praise for the program, especially my instructors Carole Greer, Jill Pankey, Neal Wilson, Gale Dawson, and Pehr Smith.
I just graduated this December '06 and have recently relocated to Austin, TX. I live with my husband Nick and our two feline children.
